Jacob Oden has been one of the fastest rising recruits in the Class of 2024, he had received 34 offers and counting and he is high on a lot of teams’ radar, especially in the Big Ten. He has already received offers from Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and yes Penn State.
Oden is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety, cornerback, and wide receiver out of Harper Woods High School in Harper Woods, Michigan. His father Rod is the head coach at Harbor Woods, and also played running back at Michigan.
Oden went on a recent visit to Penn State and spoke to Nittany Sports Now and talked about his experience on campus, how he built a rapport with the coaches, and talked about how he could fit in at Penn State.
First Oden spoke about him seeing the campus, facilities, and seeing the staff. He told NSN that he was very impressed on what he saw when he visited the school.
“They did a great job bringing me in, treating me like I was at home, The coaches all came in and greeted me.” Oden said “ The campus is crazy, the stadium the campus layout how it is designed. I got to see the facilities and it was all good, they are nice, very nice.”
During his visit he got an opportunity to further build a rapport with his position coaches, as well as meet coach James Franklin and he seems that his rapport has gotten even stronger.
“ I built a good relationship with coach (Anthony) Poindexter and coach T(Terry Smith) at a few camps. The seen me work out a few times so we have a good relationship and I got to meet coach Franklin.”
Oden told NSN that coaches already see a role for him on Penn States’ defense.
“They told me that I we play cornerback”
Oden also told NSN that he will be taking his rounds of visits and he will be making his top schools list soon.
