Josiah Trotter, a three-star linebacker from Saint Joseph’s Prep High School in Philadelphia, is less than 24 hours away from announcing where he’ll commit to play college football.
Penn State is among the five schools under consideration, along with West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson and South Carolina. The announcement will be made live on Trotter’s Instagram page. Penn State was the second school to offer Trotter, doing so in May of 2020 while Trotter was still a freshman at St. Joe’s.

Trotter has chosen his five and, in doing so, left nine offers on the table, from schools such as Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M.
If Trotter chooses Penn State, he’ll be the first linebacker to commit to join the 2023 recruiting class and just the second defensive player of any position. From this year’s class, Penn State has Keon Wylie (also from Philly) and Abdul Carter (from Glenside, Pennsylvania, less than an hour away) singed.
There are no 247Sports “crystal ball” projections for Trotter.
