More positive recruiting news for Penn State football as they make the final cut for one of the top junior lineman in the country.
2023 4-star offensive tackle Sam Pendleton (6-foot-5, 295-pounds) announced a Top Five that includes Penn State, Michigan, Clemson, Virginia Tech and NC State.
The native of Pfafftown, North Carolina made an unofficial visit to State College the weekend of January 17 and left very impressed with everything he saw and heard about the program and university.
“Penn State definitely made a really big impact on me and my family,” Pendleton told NSN. “They’re really a good group of people. There is a lot of deep tradition there. I want to go to a school with tradition and that has morals and stuff they do because that’s how they’ve always done it. Penn State also isn’t super flashy and prides themselves on good football. Good football is what they play, and I feel like that’s a big thing for me.”
Credit Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein for the job he’s done recruiting and developing a relationship with Pendleton. The unofficial visit and the time they spent together was big.
Once the recruiting dead period ends, Pendleton plans on visiting some of these schools again and could make his decision sometime in March.
