The football talent coming from Western Pennsylvania over the next couple of years has already been highly publicized.
Laurel Highlands Rodney Gallagher, Brashear’s Ta’Mere Robinson, Belle Vernon’s Quinton Martin, Central Catholic’s Anthony Speca, Aliquippa’s Tiqwai Hayes, Chartiers Valley’s Lamont Payne and Thomas Jefferson’s Jordan Mayer have gotten most of the early local attention but it’s now obvious another name can be added to that list.
Aliquippa sophomore linebacker Cameron Lindsey is on a bit of a recruiting hot streak, having received recent offers from Penn State, West Virginia, Toledo and today from Luke Fickell and the Cincinnati Bearcats. Lindsey is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound linebacker whose biggest strength is his sideline-to-sideline speed. Last season for the WPIAL and PIAA Champion Aliquippa Quips, Lindsey collected 86 tackles, 22 for a loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.
Lindsey’s recruitment started off in a big way by getting his first Division I offer from James Franklin and Penn State. Normally a players first D-I offer doesn’t come from a program like Penn State but that speaks to the talent and potential that Lindsey has.

“When I found out about the offer from Penn State, I was shocked and surprised that my first offer was from Penn State,” said Lindsey. “After everything settled down and I realized what happened, I was just happy and very appreciative of receiving it. But I know and was told that this is just the beginning and that I need to continue working to get better and work on things in my game that I can improve.”
When asked what he thought led to Penn State being the first to offer, Lindsey tells NSN that the Nittany Lions coaches saw him play in the championship game in person and believes that they were impressed with his athleticism and the emotion in which he plays with. Lindsey says that seeing someone play in person as opposed to just on film is different and, in this case, benefited him.

In order to do that, Lindsey says that after basketball season is over with, one of his biggest off-season goals is to work to get stronger in the weight room and to also try and put on some good weight.
One school that hasn’t jumped in with an offer yet to Lindsey is the Pitt Panthers. That’s something that he hopes happens soon and it might happen this weekend.
“An offer from Pitt would be awesome,” said Lindsey. “They’re my hometown school and I have a lot of friends that play there. They invited me to their Junior Day this Saturday, so we’ll see what happens.”
