As it’s less than two weeks from National Letter of Intent Signing Day, James Franklin is busy making in-home visits not only with players he’d like to add to Penn State’s Top Five 2022 recruiting class, he and his staff aren’t forgetting about the players that have already given verbal commitments to him.
With high volume of de-commitments and programs trying to flip recruits at the last minute, all coaches know that a verbal commitment is just that- just talk, and it’s not official until next Wednesday when they sign that letter of intent.
On Sunday prior to his press conference to talk about Penn State’s acceptance to play in the Outback Bowl, Franklin made a visit to see three of the most important recruits in this year’s recruiting class: 5-star quarterback Drew Allar, 5-star running back Nicholas Singleton and 4-star wide receiver Kaden Saunders.
The Nittany Lions need to add more player makers to their offense and these three players could very well be the face of the offense for the next few seasons. Allar and Singleton have both been elevated to 5-star status and are ranked by 247 Sports as the top senior players at their respective positions. With that type of talent and considering the need at both those positions, it’s very likely that both players will challenge for starting spots next seasons.
Star wide receiver Jahan Dotson is headed to the NFL, which creates a huge hole in the offense as they lose their top playmaker. Saunders is a dynamic playmaker with tons of speed and will also have a chance to get on the field early as Penn State looks to find their next Dotson.
