Penn State A ‘Dream Offer’ for Sophomore QB Michael Van Buren

James Franklin and his coaching staff have hosted hundreds of recruits over the last few weeks and this morning they decided to extend an offer to one of them that recently made a visit to Happy Valley.

2024 sophomore quarterback Michael Van Buren, from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, found out this morning that his latest offer was from the No. 4 ranked team in the country. Van Buren (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) previously received offers from Michigan, Maryland and Boston College.

Nittany Sports Now spoke with Van Buren this afternoon and found out this offer from Penn State was no ordinary offer to him.

“It was just different. Their student section was and their fans are just all in for Penn State football. It was something different than I’ve ever experienced. It was such a loud crowd and they also got the win so it was a plus one.”

The fact that Van Buren is drawing Power Five interest already is quite impressive considering this is his first year as a starter. He’s still young and learning the position but watching his tape the talent that he possesses just jumps out at you.

“I believe the strengths of my game are my accuracy, my ability to read the defenses and I’m able to improvise so if something isn’t there, I can use my legs to make something happen. I consider myself more of a passer than a runner to be honest,” said Van Buren.
