Punter to portal: Freshman Levi Forrest enters transfer portal: report

Penn State picked up a commitment Tuesday from the nation’s top punter, Alex Bacchetta, and a day later, the Nittany Lions have seen one of their current punters enter the transfer portal.

Levi Forrest, a 5-star punting recruit coming out of high school in Richlands, Va., has entered the portal, according to 247Sports.

Forrest, a walk-on, was a true freshman in 2020 and appeared in two games for PSU. Against both Ohio State and Maryland, he attempted an onside kick in the fourth quarter.

Forrest is likely to have a number of suitors, given how highly rated he was coming out of high school. He was called a “can’t miss D1 prospect” in the following analysis from Kohl’s Kicking:

Forrest attended his first Kohl’s ranking camp in May of 2019. He impressed everyone with his huge hang-times and overall leg speed. Forrest has long levers and is easily able to hit college level punts. His “A” ball is outstanding. Forrest also hit some of the biggest KO’s at the camp with over 200 campers. Forrest does need some refinement technically in the years to come but he is a can’t miss D1 punting prospect. His frame will easily add 20 lbs in the next year.
