The Penn State Women’s Volleyball team had a preseason national ranking of No. 10 in the country.
After their defeat against No. 11 SMU in Spikes Under The Lights, the Nittany Lions dropped to No. 13 even though the tournament was an exhibition which didn’t count towards their record.
Then after starting the regular season going 4-1 with victories over UConn (3-0), High Point (3-2), Hofstra (3-0), DePaul (3-0) and losing to No. 3 Kentucky (1-3) at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Penn State climbed one spot in the AVCA National Ranking to No. 12.
Then the Blue & White had a showdown against No. 4 Stanford inside the Palestra in Philadelphia and swept the Cardinal 3-0.
From there Penn State came back to Rec Hall and swept Ohio 3-0.
They currently sit with an overall record of 6-1 and have reached their highest national ranking of the year by moving to No. 9 in the country.

She is followed by Whitney Lauenstein’s 82.5 points and 73 kills at a hitting efficiency of .194.
On defense, Ava Falduto leads the Nittany Lions with 88 digs followed by Martin’s 51.
Ryla Jones has led the squad with 22 total blocks followed by Gabrielle Nichol’s 20.
Penn State’s next match is against Villanova on Tuesday, September 15 inside Rec Hall at 7:00 P.M.
