A new era of Penn State football officially begins this weekend, but before it does, the university is honoring its past.
Penn State Athletics debuted the Paterno Family Football Experience Room on Tuesday inside West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium.
Multiple donors contributed to the project, celebrating over 100 years of PSU football.
The most notable item on display comes from the Paterno family. Joe Paterno’s original office desk and workspace are inside the experience room for fans to view. Some of Coach Paterno’s personal belongings and documents from his over 60-year career are included.
The museum includes interactive displays for fans to learn about the team’s past and signage displaying Penn State’s Big Ten championship and national championship wins.

The Nittany Lions are back inside Beaver Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Marshall to begin Matt Campbell’s coaching career at Penn State. It’s the first time in 13 years that PSU has a new man in charge after James Franklin was let go six games into the 2025 season during his 12th year in State College.
The Experience Room is an extension of the Penn State All-Sports Museum and will open to the public on Thursday, September 3, at 10 a.m.
Hours will fluctuate throughout the weekend but will coincide with the All-Sports Museum going forward: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
