Four-star Don Bosco Prep EDGE rusher Aidan O’Neil has emerged as one of the biggest remaining targets on the board for the Nittany Lions in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
O’Neil is currently ranked as the No. 73 overall player in the country and the No. 1 EDGE prospect in New Jersey. The Don Bosco Prep standout is down to three finalists and will make his decision Friday morning between: Kentucky, Notre Dame and Penn State.
O’Neil will announce his commitment live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound EDGE rusher is coming off a productive junior season in which he finished with 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. His production took a noticeable jump, as he tripled his sack total from his sophomore season and became one of the most disruptive defensive players in New Jersey.
O’Neil brings a high-effort style off the edge and has the ability to turn speed into power when attacking the corner. He owns promising physical traits, including a barrel chest and 10.25-inch hands, and he plays with the kind of urgency that allows him to consistently initiate contact.
As a pass rusher, O’Neil shows the ability to dip under blocks, slide through gaps and create pressure with both effort and agility. Against the run, he is instinctive, quick to diagnose and able to redirect well once the play declares.
Penn State will host O’Neil for an official visit June 12, while Kentucky is scheduled for an official visit June 5 and Notre Dame will host him last on June 19.
While O’Neil has begun to trend toward the Nittany Lions, Penn State remains in a serious battle with both Kentucky and Notre Dame for one of the top EDGE prospects in the region.
