With the announcement that captain Dane Dowiak will miss the rest of the season with an upper body injury he suffered last weekend against Michigan, Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky felt the need to promote someone from within to fill the void in leadership with Dowiak’s injury.
Gadowsky tabbed junior forward Aiden Fink will serve as an additional alternate captain for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.
Fink joins seniors Ben Schoen, Jarod Crespo and fellow junior Reese Laubach in the leadership group for Gadowsky’s No. 5 (NCAA Percentage Index, NPI) Nittany Lions.
Fink broke Alex Limoges team record this season becoming the fastest Nittany Lion to reach 100 career points and currently ranks seventh on the program’s all-time scoring list with 109 points, while his 43 goals are tied for ninth.
Last season he became Penn State’s first Hobey Baker Award Top-10 finalist after setting a single-season program record with 53 points and tying the school mark with 23 goals.
After missing seven games due to injury he had suffered against Ohio State, Fink has returned with three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 12 games.
So far through 2025-26, Fink has 22 points in 21 games overall and fifth place on the team in scoring.
Penn State hosts the Ohio State Buckeyes this weekend in a pivotal Big Ten series at Pegula Ice Arena.
