The transfer portal brings many surprises with twists and turns in 2026 that many couldn’t have seen coming, and Penn State is no exception.
On Sunday, Penn State retained a wide receiver many expected to enter the portal.
Former four-star recruit Tyseer Denmark announced that he is staying at Penn State in 2026.
“They lost count tryna count me out, let’s do it Nittany Nation #WeBack #WeAre 🦁🦁🦁” Denmark said on Twitter.
A Philadelphia native and graduate of Pennsylvania power Imhotep Charter, Denmark wasn’t used often in Andy Kotelnicki’s offense.
Denmark redshirted in 2024 and only caught two passes in 2025, both in the season opener against Nevada.
He was visibly frustrated in a video posted by Lyle Alenstein of the Daily Collegian after the Pinstripe Bowl. Denmark was the first to walk off the field and drop off his helmet as the Nittany Lions continued to celebrate the victory at midfield.
He did not record a catch in the matchup and only played two snaps, per PFF, as Trebor Peña (Pinstripe Bowl MVP), Devonte Ross, and Koby Howard dominated playing time in Andy Kotelnicki’s final game as offensive coordinator.
It led to speculation that Denmark was likely going to leave Penn State through the transfer portal, but things changed a week later and is back for his redshirt sophomore year.
Denmark caught two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown against Maryland during his true-freshman season.
A three-year captain at Imhotep Charter, Denmark helped lead the team to a 15-0 record and won the PIAA 5A Championship in 2023.
The transfer portal opened on January 2 and remains open for a single 15-day window until January 16.
