Penn State Basketball: No. 2 Michigan Up Next For Penn State

On Tuesday night, the No. 2 team in the land, will be in State College to take on the Penn State men’s basketball team.

The Michigan Wolverines are undefeated with an overall record of 13-0 and a Big Ten record of 3-0.

They are led by coach Dusty May who enters his second season at the helm.

Michigan currently has five players who are averaging double-digits in points.

Yaxel Lendeborg is a 6′-9″ forward who is leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points and also grabbing 7.0 rebounds and dishing out 3.4 assists per game.

He is followed by 6′-9″ forward Morez Johnson Jr., who is averaging 14.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Trey McKenney is a 6′-4″ freshman guard who is registering 10.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Aday Mara is a 7′-3″ center who is scoring 10.5 ppg. and leading the team in rebounding with 8.1 rpg. Then Roddy Gayle Jr. is a 6′-5″ guard who’s also averaging 10.5 ppg. along with collecting 3.8 rpg.

As a team, Michigan is shooting 53% from the field and averaging 96.7 points per game. Its average margin of victory is 30.2.

Penn State is 9-5, but are still searching for their first Big Ten win. They have shown, though, that they can play with nationally ranked competition.

Penn State gave No. 12 Michigan State everything it could handle, only losing by four points to Sparty at home.

In Penn State’s last game, which was against #16 Illinois at The Palestra in Philadelphia,  they put up a tough fight as well, ultimately falling short by eight points.

PSU will need to put up a similar effort— and then some— against Michigan.

Freshman point guard, Kayden Mingo, is leading the team averaging 14.9 points, 3.9 rebounds with 2.5 assists per game. He is followed by redshirt junior, Freddie Dilione, V. who is averaging 14.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and freshman, Melih Tunca, comes in at 10.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

The tip for Tuesday’s game is at 7:00 P.M. and the game will air live on Fox Sports 1 (FS1).
