In a time when Penn State sports fans could use some good news, the wrestling program has provided it.
PSU wrestling got a commitment from Grey Burnett, the No. 6 wrestler in the 2027 Class per FloWrestling.

Burnett, a two-time state champ from Ohio’s Perrysburg High School, picked Penn State over Ohio State, which is his in-state school, and Nebraska, another Big Ten power which finished second to Penn State at last year’s National Championships in Philly.
At the end of the day, it’s hard to turn down the program which has won 12 of the past 14 national championships and is on its way to making it 13 of 15, and it doesn’t hurt that one of Penn State’s staters is one of Burnett’s former Perrysburg teammates.
The Marcus Blaze connection is particularly significant.
The two were teammates Perrysburg High School, where Blaze became the No. 1 pound for pound wrestler in the country and, eventually, a Penn State Nittany Lion. It’s hard to compare anybody to Blaze, who won four state championships and finished with a record of 200-2.
But Burnett has done quite well for himself, winning state championships in each of his first two seasons and placing third at the U17 World Championships over the summer.
Burnett is a guy any college program would like to have, and now, Penn State has his commitment.
Penn State wrestling now has five committed to its ‘27 Class. Burnett joins Landon Sidun, James Whitbred, Will Soto and Gavin Mangano.
Of those five, only Sidun (No. 2) is ahead of Burnett in FloWrestling’s rankings.
