Earning All-American recognition is one of the highest individual honors in college football. Since 1944, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) has selected an annual All-American team and remains one of the NCAA’s five official selectors — along with the Associated Press (AP), American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Walter Camp, and The Sporting News — that determine Consensus and Unanimous All-America status.
