Former Penn State basketball assistant Adam Fisher has just earned a two-year extension through 2030 as the head coach of the Temple Owls.
Fisher graduated from Penn State in 2006 and worked in Happy Valley for three seasons as head student manager and then one season as a graduate manager. Even though he never played on the court, he assisted with player workouts, handled administrative duties and helped with team travel.
From there, he took a position at Villanova working as a graduate manager for the Wildcats under Jay Wright from 2007-09. During this time, Villanova reached the Sweet 16 in 2008 and won the East Regional in 2009 to advance to the Final Four.
After two seasons of being the Director of Basketball Operations for Boston University from 2009-11, Fisher returned to Penn State in 2011 as video coordinator and was promoted to the director of player development in 2012.
Then, Fisher went to Miami, where he was an assistant from 2015-21. During his tenure in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes recorded four-straight 20-win seasons and four-straight postseason appearances from 2014-15 through 2017-18 with NBA Draft selections in three consecutive years and numerous ACC player accolades.
From 2021-23, Fisher returned to his alma mater as an associate head coach under head coach Micah Shrewsberry. During this span, Penn State won 23 games in 2022-2023 and earned an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a #10 seed where it advanced to the second round after defeating #7 seed Texas A&M 76-59.
Fisher was then named the 19th head coach in Temple University history on March 29, 2023.
In his first season at the helm of Temple, Fisher led the Owls to 16 wins and advanced to the AAC Championship game for the first time. Then just last season, Temple’s record was 17-15, winning an additional five regular season games and an additional four victories in AAC play. It also averaged 78.8 ppg.
So far this season, the Temple Owls are 3-1.
