Penn State-Ohio State doesn’t feel like Penn State-Ohio State.
Normally, this is a matchup where both teams are in the top ten, if not the top five, and College Football Playoff implications are at stake.
That’s not happening this year.
Coming into the season, Ohio State was ranked No. 3 and Penn State No. 2, so many expected thus to be a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup. It hasn’t happened that way. Although Ohio State has held up its end of the bargain— 7-0 and ranked No. 1– Penn State has done anything but that.
Penn State is 3-4 and far from the top 25, leading to the firing of coach James Franklin and an uncertain future.
That’s why Ohio State is a heavy favored.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

So what are the odds of Penn State pulling an upset of Ohio State in Columbus? Per Vegas, not too good. Ohio State is an 18.5-point favorite per FanDuel Sportsbook, and for many, that’s conservative. Ohio State has the best defense in the country, giving up less than six points per game. That’s what Penn State QB Ethan Grunkemeyer is walking into for his second career start in place of the injured Drew Allar.
The good news is that Penn State does have Kaytron Allen (612 yards, nine touchdowns, 6.2 YPC) in the backfield.
