Plenty of people are expecting Matt Rhule to become Penn State football’s head coach or, at the very least, acknowledging the possibility, but Dylan Raiola isn’t one of them.
The Nebraska QB addressed the speculation regarding his head coach with four simple words:
“He ain’t going nowhere.”
This should be taken with a grain of salt.
Regardless of whether or not Rhule ends up with Penn State, it’s not like his starting QB his gonna say “Yeah, he might be leaving, idk, we’ll see.”
With that said, Rhule does seem happy at Nebraska, and currently has the Huskers 5-1 and in the top 25.
WHAT RHULE SAID

USA TODAY
Rhule was asked about the matter during his Monday press conference, and although he didn’t indicate that he had any desire to leave Nebraska, he didn’t squash the speculation, either.
“I love Penn State. I met my wife there. My Alma Mater. Fan since I was born. I probably had a Penn State shirt when I was born,” Rhule said.
Rhule and AD Pat Kraft worked together dating back to their Temple days, where Rhule was the head coach from 2013-2016 before departing for Baylor.
“I love Pat Kraft. Really sad to see Coach Franklin go,” Rhule said. “When you think about what he did for my Alma Mater, the program was in peril. James takes over a program in disarray and gives stability and excellence.”
With that said…
“I’m not going to talk a lot about job openings when they come,” Rhule said. “This is what happens when you win. We won at Temple, and I dealt with it all the time. I’m not going to talk about those things ever. I’m not going to talk about my contract here. I absolutely love it here.”
“I want to continue to take the steps needed to turn this place into a beast,” Rhule said.
IF RHULE DOES LEAVE…
He’d probably be taking Raiola with him.
In the age of the transfer portal, when a coach leaves, there’s a good chance his QB will follow (think Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams at USC).
That’s something for Penn State fans to consider when weighing the pros and cons of hiring Rhule.
