UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — It has been a while since the deep ball was a weapon in Penn State’s arsenal, but Drew Allar was able to dial up a long-distance touchdown Devonte Ross for their first touchdown of the third quarter against FIU.
It was a 42-yard touchdown completion, but the reception itself was spectacular and earned a pass interference penalty from the Panthers.

Ross, who dealt with an injury during the early stages of camp, had only one reception for four yards in his Penn State debut last week against Nevada. With his touchdown catch, he’s up to three receptions for 61 yards against FIU.
Stretching the defense is going to be of utmost importance as the season continues and Ross seems to be one of a few guys who can get open deep, something Penn State lacked last season.
