Penn State is prioritizing quarterbacks in the Class of 2027 and they are attracting the best that class has to offer.
247Sports top overall recruit in the Class of 2027, Dunham School (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) quarterback Elijah Haven gave his 2025 travel itinerary, Penn State being one of six schools to get a visit from Haven.
Haven will be a visitor September 27 in the annual White Out against Oregon.
Other destinations for Haven during the 2025 include visiting LSU (September 13 vs. Florida), Florida (October 4 vs. Texas), Alabama (October 18 vs. Tennessee), Georgia (November 15 vs. Texas), and Auburn (November 29 vs. Alabama).
Haven had a phenomenal sophomore campaign with 56 total touchdowns responsible for (37 pass, 19 rush), completing 3,093 yards, while also running for 925 yards leading the Tigers to a Louisiana state championship appearance.
The frame Haven possesses, 6’5” and 215 pounds, combined with his arm and ability to beat opponents with his legs have all recruiters coveting the Tiger quarterback.
Haven has work to do with his passing game as refinement with ball placement and accuracy still is a work in progress that many feel can be coached up to maximize his potential.
As of this writing, Penn State has the top overall recruiting class early in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Currently, Penn State has four commitments that are highlighted by the top overall running back prospect in the Class of 2027 in McKeesport’s (McKeesport, Pennsylvania) Kemon Spell.
Along with Spell is a trio of four-star prospects in offensive lineman Layton von Brandt (Appoquinimink), wide receiver Khalil Taylor (Pine Richland), and linebacker Gabe Jenkins (Imani Christian Academy).
