While the hockey world wants to see if Gavin Mackenna will commit to Penn State hockey, Guy Gadowsky and company landed another big fish Friday.
Pierce Mbuyi, a five-star Canadian forward, announced his commitment to Penn State via Instagram.
Yeah, this is a big deal.
Mbuyi spent last season with the OHLโs Owen Sound Attack, and in 63 games, he scored 29 goals and ended with 52 total points. This performance earned him OHL Rookie of the Year honors, which Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky also won.
For those who donโt know, those two turned out to be pretty good. Some might say great.
Mbuyi is the third five-star to commit to Penn Stateโs 2025 Class, joining Jackson Smith and Luke Misa. The team also added Mark Gadowskyโ son of Guyโ who played at Army and was the top defenseman in the transfer portal.
McKenna is the big one, since heโs projected to go No. 1 overall.
Penn State hockey is already coming off the best year in program history, having made the Frozen Four for the first time. So, yeah, things are looking up for the program.
