It will most likely be a 2024 Big Ten Championship Game rematch between Penn State and Oregon for the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle.
Five-star Immanuel Iheanacho, from Georgetown Preparatory School (Baltimore, MD), has named his final four. Vying for Iheanacho’s services along with Penn State are Auburn, LSU and Oregon.
Iheanacho hasn’t set a firm commitment date but has set official visits with his final four.
This past weekend, Iheanacho took his official visit with LSU.
Following LSU, Iheanacho will stay in the SEC visiting Auburn (6/6). After Iheanacho’s visit at Auburn, he’ll make his fourth visit to Penn State (6/13) then finishing with Oregon the weekend of June 20.
Currently, Iheanacho has been recruited primarily by offensive line coach Phil Trautwein. As Trautwein gains traction with the Baltimore native, many predictions have Oregon being the leader for Iheanacho’s commitment. Oregon currently has its offensive line coach A’lique Terry recruiting Iheanacho.
The nation’s No. 3 overall recruit, per On3’s Industry Rankings, is a priority for each of his finalists.
Scouting reports rave about Iheanacho’s 6’7” 350 frame, one many feel has room to expand. Iheanacho’s 36-inch arms possess a massive wing-span and his ability to maximize his physical traits have offensive line coaches salivating over refining other aspects of Iheancho’s game.
Where scouts feel Iheanacho needs to grow is beyond his physical tools with his fluid movements. Iheanacho’s loading balancing and footwork with proper refinement could be a future first round NFL Draft pick. 247Sports scout Gabe Brooks compared Iheanacho to former Louisville All-American tackle Mekhi Becton, who was selected No. 11 overall by the New York Jets.
