One of Penn State football’s top-rated Class of 2025 signees has officially enrolled.
The guy is an in-state prospect in Philly Jabree Wallace.
Wallace, a star at Philly’s famous Imhotep Charter, initially committed to Georgia but de-committed in December 2023.
His recruitment was open for a while before he finally recommitted, this time to Penn State, last June. Following his commitment, Wallace put together a stellar senior season, rushing for 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Wallace then signed with Penn State but didn’t arrive on campus during the winter like many of his classmates. Now, he’s in Happy Valley.
THE SCOUTING REPORT
Imhotep’s running backs coach, Michael Gandy, spoke with On3Sports about what he sees in Wallace.
“I think he’s an every-down back,” Gandy said. “He blocks well and set the tone for us in that state championship game, at least offensively, with a great block on the first play of the game to lead through for our quarterback at the time, Mikal Davis. He also catches the ball well out of the backfield. I think he also has great vision and is patient.
“I also believe that, later on in the year, as it gets colder, he becomes even more important because he runs well between the tackles. He keeps a low pad level and it allows us to control the game. You saw that in the same championship game. I believe he carried the ball 28 times. That was big for us.”
THE PIPELINE
Wallace follows what’s become quite a pipeline from Imhotep to Penn State. Four fellow former Imhotep players— Tyseer Denmark, Keon Wylie, Kenny Woseley and Enai White— are also Nittany Lions.
