Penn State continues its week of receiving good news on the recruiting path.
On Wednesday, the Nittany Lions made the top 6 for one of the Class of 2026โs top offensive tackles.
Four-star tackle Johnnie โJDโ Jones has narrowed his decision to six programs. According to Hayes Fawcett, Penn State is one of two Big Ten schools that cracked the list.
Jones will decide between PSU, UCLA, and four other schools: Colorado, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt.ย
Jones – listed at 6-foot-7, 315 pounds by On3 – is the No. 8 OT in the Class of 2026. 247Sports slots Jones at 6-6, 305 pounds, and rated 91 overall. He is the No. 141 overall player on 247Sportsโ composite, the No. 17 recruit in Florida, and earned a .9378 score.ย
Phil Trautwein is the lead coach recruiting him. Jones plays at Berkeley Prep in Tampa, Florida, and played left tackle during his junior year. He helped take Berkley Prep to the Florida 2A regional finals. Jones is a multi-sport athlete who scored 10.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds while a freshman at Palmetto High, before joining Berkeley.ย
Jones visited Vanderbilt (April 12) and Ole Miss (April 18) in the last two months and will travel to Florida State (May 30) and UCLA (June 6) in the next two weeks. His final visit is in Happy Valley to see Penn State on June 13.
