Philadelphia— Penn State wrestling star Luke Lilledahl won’t end his true freshman season with a national title.

The No. 1 seed at 125 pounds fell in his quarterfinal bout with Lehigh’s Sheldon Seymour, seeded eight, 3-2 in a second tiebreaker.

Seymour got the deciding point due to having 14 seconds of riding time.

Although Lilledahl’s title dreams are on hold for now— as are Penn State’s dreams of going through the whole tournament without losing a match after going 20-0 Thursday— the true freshman still has a lot to wrestle for.

He has a chance to become an All-American, and to do that, he has to place in the top eight.

Whatever happens, it’s been a great year for Lilledahl, who won the Big Ten Championship and stunned Purdue’s Matt Ramos, who came in No. 1 in the country.
