Penn State Wrestling: No. 1 Luke Lilledahl Upset in Quarterfinal

Philadelphiaโ€”ย Penn State wrestling star Luke Lilledahl wonโ€™t end his true freshman season with a national title.

The No. 1 seed at 125 pounds fell in his quarterfinal bout with Lehighโ€™s Sheldon Seymour, seeded eight, 3-2 in a second tiebreaker.

Seymour got the deciding point due to having 14 seconds of riding time.

Although Lilledahlโ€™s title dreams are on hold for nowโ€” as are Penn Stateโ€™s dreams of going through the whole tournament without losing a match after going 20-0 Thursdayโ€” the true freshman still has a lot to wrestle for.

He has a chance to become an All-American, and to do that, he has to place in the top eight.

Whatever happens, itโ€™s been a great year for Lilledahl, who won the Big Ten Championship and stunned Purdueโ€™s Matt Ramos, who came in No. 1 in the country.
