In recruiting news, one of Philadelphiaโs top players in the Class of 2026 has scheduled a visit to Penn State.
Four-star wide receiver/defensive back Joey OโBrien announced Wednesday that he will visit State College from May 16 to 18.ย

A 6-foot-4, 185-pound athlete out of La Salle College High Schoolโ the same alma mater as future Penn State star Abdul Carter, OโBrien earned 6A All-State honors at wide receiver. On3 grades him with a 92.22 rating as the third-best athlete and player in Pennsylvania. The recruiting site ranks him as the No. 98 player in the class and predicts OโBrien to land at Penn State.
Co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Anthony Poindexter and associate head coach/defensive recruiting coordinator Terry Smith are the main staff members recruiting OโBrien to Penn State.ย
On3 gives PSU a 61.6% chance of landing OโBrien. Notre Dame, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA, Miami, Oregon, and others have offered OโBrien, with the Fighting Irish given a 34.7% chance.
247Sportshas OโBrien in higher regard as the No. 50 player in the nation and No. 1 in PA. 247Sports predicted Penn State to be OโBrienโs new home on Feb. 8.
Carrying a 91 rating, OโBrien would be PSUโs highest-ranked commit ahead of Fort Cherry safety Matt Seig, Harrisburg tackle Kevin Brown and running back Messiah Mickens, West Virginia edge rusher Daniel Jennings, and California quarterback Troy Huhn all placing at 90.
