Per a report by Aubry Killion of WDSU in New Orleans, tonight’s Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame has been postponed until tomorrow night in light of last night’s tragedy in which killed at least 10, injured more than two dozen others and is being investigated as act of terror.

There has yet to be official word given by authorities.
During New Year’s Day celebrations on Bourben Street a man purposely drove a pickup truck into a crowd. CBS News reported that, per the FBI, the driver was then killed in a firefight with police.
There is fear of a follow-up attack at a large sporting event.
“This man was trying to run over as many people as he could,” New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick told CBS. CBS also reported that “a long gun was recovered from the scene,” per law enforcement sources. “The long gun had a ‘suppressive device’ on it that acted as a silencer, according to sources on the scene. Two sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News the suspect was wearing body armor. Potential explosive devices recovered at or near the scene are also being analyzed, the sources said.”
CBS also reported that “Investigators are probing whether the suspect was connected to or inspired by a foreign terror organization, law enforcement and city official sources.”
Penn State football is hardly the main focus of this story. With that said, PSU does play the winter of Georgia-Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl/College Football Playoff semifinal Jan. 9. This is a developing story that will be updated once more information becomes available.
