Penn State has two hurdles remaining to get to its first College Football Playoff, and the biggest one is Minnesota.
The Gophers have had an up and down season, as their 6-4 record backs up.
Minnesota has been bad at times, having lost to Iowa by three scores at home.
Minnesota has also been good at times, having a ranked win over Illinois. But the Gophers haven’t had a test like Penn State yet. With a favorable schedule in which Minnesota avoided having to play conference powerhouses Ohio State and Oregon as well as the newly formidable Indiana Hoosiers, PSU will be the toughest opponent Minnesota faces.
MINNESOTA’S BEST CHANCE

Minnesota has intercepted 16 passes, which leads the Big Ten. True freshman safety Koi Perich has the conference’s individual lead in interceptions with five, which also ties him for second in the country. It’s hard for a team to pull an upset without getting a turnover, and although Penn State QB Drew Allar has been excellent at taking care of the football (seven interceptions in 680 passing attempts), he did throw three INT Oct. 12 at USC. So it is possible.
