Th game time for Penn State football’s clash with USC Oct. 12 in the Coliseum has been set.
Early Monday afternoon, the Big Ten announced its kickoff times for the weekend of Oct. 12, of which Penn State-USC is among the most noteworthy games.
As expected, the game time for Penn State-USC is 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS
If this game were in Happy Valley, perhaps it would be a noon kick on Fox. But since it’s in the pacific time zone, a noon kick would have started at 9 a.m. local time, which would have been a little crazy. Instead, a much more reasonable time of 12:30 pacific has been established.
This is the type of matchup any college football fan should be able to enjoy.
Penn State, at 4-0, is ranked No. 7 in the latest AP Poll.
USC, at 3-1, is No. 11.
USC’s lone loss of the season came at the hands of Michigan Sept. 21. Behind the legs of Kalel Mullings (17 carries, 159 yards, two touchdowns), Michigan, now ranked No. 10 but ranked 18 at the time, upset USC 27-24 in the Big House. Many have wondered how Lincoln Riley’s team would adjust to the physically of the Big Ten after coming over from the PAC 12.
The Michigan game didn’t do anything to erase those concerns, nor, for that matter, did USC’s most recent outing against Wisconsin— a team generally known for its physically— in LA.
Although USC ultimately pulled away for a 38-21 win, Wisconsin, despite coming in as a two-touchdown underdog, led 21-10 in the third quarter.
This will be the first time Penn State and USC have met since the Rose Bowl Jan. 2, 2017. USC won that game, 52-49. The last regular-season game between the two schools was played in 2000, which USC won, 29-5, in East Rutherford, New Jersey at the Kickoff Classic.
