Jarquez Carter is someone the Penn State coaching staff has put a lot of time in recruiting.
The 4-star defensive tackle from Newberry, Florida has been recruited by defensive coordinator Tom Allen, along with defensive line coach Deion Barnes.
Along with Penn State on June 7th, Carter made official visits to Florida (May 31st), Central Florida (June 14th), Ohio State (June 18th) and Miami, Fla. (June 21st).
Following his visit to State College, Nittany Sports Now spoke with Carter about the highlights of his visit.
“This visit definitely made a big impression on me, especially since I was able to really sit down and talk to coach (Tom) Allen and coach (Deion) Barnes,” said Carter. “We were also able to watch film, and they were able to find players on their defense that I play like and show how I would fit in and be a key piece in their defense.”
“Something that stands out to me about Penn State is the way that they practice. I’ve never seen anyone practice as hard as they do,” said Carter. “They practice so physical. They started with O-line vs. D-line one-on-one. They get after it like no other team does.
” Academically, I really like their business department and that’s something I want to pursue. Them having a good football program and good business department is definitely a plus.”

It’s decision time for this talented defensive lineman as Carter is scheduled to announce his decision tomorrow evening at 5 PM. Carter has stated that he’ll be deciding between the five schools that he made official visits to.
The question though is Penn State still actively recruiting Carter and how many defensive linemen are they taking in this class?
Penn State currently has received commitments from 22 players with the latest being from a defensive lineman, 4-star DT Randy Adirika, from Miami, Fla. Penn State has also received commitments from four other defensive ends.
