Penn State had a good recruiting weekend.
The team hosted its third Junior Day of the winter this past Saturday. On Sunday, one of the western PA’s top prospects, Latrobe’s Alex Tatsch, announced his commitment.
Less than 24 hours later, another WPIAL prospect some feel Penn State’s the favorite to land revealed when and where he’ll be announcing his commitment.
Imani Christian’s Dayshaun Burnett, who has Penn State in his top five, will reveal his commitment Wednesday afternoon at 2:45 inside Imani Christian.

Penn State’s a finalist for the four-star, 6-foot-4, 220-pound LB along with Kentucky, Pitt, Rutgers and West Virginia. Burnett’s been on Penn State’s radar for a while. PSU offered him in July 2022. Along with his top five, Burnett has offers from schools such as Duke, Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin. Burnett primarily plays linebacker but has also spent time at safety, QB and RB.
After visiting Penn State-West Virginia, Burnett told Lions247 that he was impressed with how hard Penn State’s defense played.
“Even if they made a mistake, they made it at 100 miles per hour,” Burnett said. “They play with an extremely high motor.”
Burnett told Pittsburgh Sports Now in September that Penn State was in his unofficial top three along with Pitt and Rutgers, and mentioned that he was “going to see Michigan, too.”
But Michigan didn’t end up making Burnett’s official list of finalists.
All three of 247’s crystal ball projections have Burnett picking Penn State.
If those predictions come true, he’ll be the fifth WPIAL product to commit to Penn State’s ’25 Class and the second linebacker, joining Tatsch.
