Penn State is going after receivers in this transfer portal window.
One of them just went on an official visit, and judging by his social media post, it went quite well.
“I had a blast on my official visit with Penn State,” North Carolina transfer Andre Greene Jr. posted to social media late Sunday afternoon. “Happy Valley is truly an amazing place for many reasons!”

Greene entered the transfer portal after two seasons with UNC. So far, he hasn’t received much playing time during his college career. Over two seasons, Greene caught a total of five passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Three of those catches and the lone touchdown came in last year’s Holliday Bowl against Oregon. The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder came to Carolina as a four-star recruit from Richmond, Virginia’s St. Christopher’s School. 247Sports ranked Greene just outside of the top 100 overall players in America from his class.
The receivers room was generally thought to be the biggest weakness during Penn State’s 2023 regular season. Aside from KeAndre Lambert-Smith (53 catches, 673 yards, four TD), no Penn State WR had more than 246 yards. But Penn State’s had quality options at receiver throughout the James Franklin era. Players such as Chris Godwin, Jahan Dotson and KJ Hamler all became high-round NFL draft picks. Penn State is sure to address that area of concern in some facet during this transfer portal window.
While coach James Franklin and his staff worry about that, they also have to focus on Ole Miss. The two teams will meet in the Peach Bowl scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 30 at noon in Atlanta. PSU has a chance for its fifth 11-win season in the past eight.
