Regarding the 2024 football schedule, Penn State and every other Big Ten program— current and impending— will find out its 2024 conference opponents soon.
The 2024 Big Ten football matchups are set to be revealed Thursday, June 9, at 4:30 on the Big Ten Network, the conference announced Wednesday.

The league will announce its scheduling model, who each team will play and where each matchup will take place.
What will still be up in the air after Thursday is when the games will take place. Last season, the full schedule— dates included— came out in late October. That schedule is nearing completion, with kickoff times and TV channels revealed for seven of Penn State’s 12 games.
Arguably the most intriguing thing about the 2024 schedule is something the 2023 schedule didn’t have: USC and UCLA. The two California schools will be starting play in their new conference next season, coming over from the PAC 12. With the league playing nine conference games, the new members won’t be able to play every team. But many Penn State fans are hoping the school draws at least one of the two.
Many Penn State fans are also hoping that Penn State starts its conference slate at home in 2024, which is something that hasn’t happened since 2015. This scheduling quirk is something that’s drawn fans’ ire, as well as the ire of athletic director Pat Kraft, who expressed his displeasure in a statement soon after the 2023 schedule came out in October. Penn State’s conference opener will again be on the road this season. The team will play at Illinois Week 3, Sep. 16, in a Fox “Big Noon Kickoff” clash.
Penn State’s season opener is against West Virginia at Beaver Stadium Sept. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 on NBC.
