Penn State Schedule: Michigan Kickoff Time, Channel Announced

Penn State will take on Minnesota Nov. 22 at 3:30 on CBS.
Beaver Stadium -- David Hague

As expected, one of the most hyped games on ย Penn State footballโ€™s 2023 schedule will be a noon kick.

College Football Insider Brett McMurphy of the Action Network reported Thursday evening that, per sources, Penn State and Michigan will be on Fox Nov. 11 as that weeks โ€œBig Noon Kickoffโ€ game.

This is expected to be one of the marquee matchups of the college football season.

Both teams are expected to come into the season ranked in the top 10, if not the top five. For this reason, among others, some Penn State fans are upset about the early kick. Some feel that, since Michigan is slated to be Penn Stateโ€™s strongest home opponent this year, that game should be played under the lights under White Out conditions.

But the โ€œBig Noon Kickoffโ€ has become a staple of Foxโ€™s college football coverage, and many saw the inevitably of Penn State-Michigan being a โ€œBig Noonโ€ game.

Therefore, Penn Stateโ€™s celebrated White Out will be against Iowa Sept. 23. Iowa… isnโ€™t quite as good as Michigan.

Jim Harbaughโ€™s team has been one of the best in college football over the past two seasons, winning the Big Ten and making the College Football Playoff in both years. Michigan has played Penn State at noon in both years, winning each matchup. Michigan beat Penn State 21-17 on ABC in Beaver Stadium two seasons ago.

Last seasonโ€™s game was on Fox, in Ann Arbor and not nearly as close. Michigan pounded Penn State 41-17. Both of Penn Stateโ€™s losses last season came when the team was televised on Foxโ€™s โ€œBig Noon Kickoff.โ€ Penn State also lost to Ohio State, 44-31, at Beaver Stadium Oct. 31.

This is the second straight day significant news has come out about the Penn State schedule. Penn Stateโ€™s game against Michigan State, scheduled for Black Friday, will be at Detroitโ€™s Ford Field at 7:30 on NBC. NBC, Fox and CBS are the three stations that make up the Big Tenโ€™s latest television deal.
