The 6-foot-10 Njie played in 37 games with 26 starts this past season for Penn State. He averaged 3.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a big-man rotation with Mikey Henn and Caleb Dorsey. Njie scored a season-high of 12 points in Penn State’s 90-65 win over Loyola Maryland on Nov. 10.
Njie was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022 out of La Lumiere High School in La Porte, Indiana by way of Centerville, Ohio. He was the number four player in Indiana, the No. 21 center and the No. 118 player nationally according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Njie joins Dallion Johnson, Caleb Dorsey, Evan Mahaffey and Jameel Brown as Penn State players that have entered the transfer portal. Furthermore, all three players in the 2023-24 recruiting class – Logan Ines, Braden Shrewsberry, and Carey Booth – have all requested releases from their letters of intent.
Penn State now has only Kanye Clary, Demetrius Lilley, Dan Conlan and Andy Christos currently on scholarship as new head coach Mike Rhoades will try to somehow put the pieces back together in his basketball program.
