Coming into the season, the odds of Penn State beating Illinois three times were slim.
As were the odds of beating Northwestern twice away from home, especially in overtime.
But Penn State moved to 3-0 against Illinois Thursday night in the Big Ten Tournament, and edged out Northwestern 67-65 in OT the next night to move on to its first tournament semifinal since 2018.
If there were any doubt about Penn State’s NCAA Tournament chances, there isn’t anymore. Here’s how the people of Twitter reacted to the game.

Penn State hoops off to the Big Ten semifinals after ousting Northwestern. At this point, feels like the Nittany Lions are dancing without Dayton.

We were probably in the Round of 64 already, but now it is locked in. See you guys on Thursday/Friday🫡

10 seed at worst.
No play-in game.
Win tomorrow and it may be 9 seed.
Penn State keeps racking up top 50 wins, which is gonna impress selection committee in big way.
PSU has become one of those teams that nobody will want to play in NCAA Tournament.https://t.co/3MjoB6LDad— Cory Giger (@CoryGiger) March 11, 2023
Penn State is now 4-0 in the state of Illinois and 5-0 against Illinois and Northwestern. The Land of Lincoln has been the Land of the Lions this season. @NittanySN

Well, Penn State is squarely in the tournament now. Playing with house money from here on out in the Big Ten Tournament, will make them even more dangerous in the next game.

“I give a lot of credit to John Harrar, because he was part of establishing this culture of what we needed to do and how we needed to play to win basketball games,” Shrewsberry said in his postgame interview.

Micah Shrewsberry gives a shoutout to John Harrar in his postgame interview with BTN.
Anybody who had followed Shresberry’s run from the beginning knows what Harrar meant to Shrewsberry.

We must be a good team because we played badly, missing free throws, rebounds, and basically no points off turnovers while committing a thousand. But…winning is winning. Semis!

Pat Kraft, please do everything in your power to keep Micah Shrewsberry here as long as possible. 🙏🏻
