Onwuka (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) is the No. 12 player in Maryland, the No. 30 edge-rusher nationally and No. 359 overall player according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Penn State extended an offer to Onwuka on Jan.23.
OBSERVATIONS
Onwuka is a versatile player that can play in a 4-3 as an edge rusher or a 3-4 as an outside linebacker. He has the speed to get around the corner and get to pass rushers and ball carriers alike and is strong enough to get off of would-be blockers and a nice swim move. Onkowa has the closing speed to get home in the backfield, and even with his natural strength and speed, he can add size to his frame to make himself a real impact player.
He’s a smart player and that’s more than about football. He’s looking for the best school for him not just for football but for his academics as well as he told Mike Asti from West Virginia Sports Now in January:
“Academics, the culture, and the mutual support of for students” would be the attributes that Onkuwa will be looking for in his future home when he commits to a school later this spring.”
