The return of Ola Fashanu bolstered Penn State’s offensive line for next season, and there’s a mix of youthful and veteran options for Phil Trautwein’s unit next season.
Of course, the coaching staff would like to continue to bolster the unit with high-caliber transfer portal targets.
One of those is Jeremiah Byers, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound right tackle from UTEP by way of Austin, Texas, who picked up an offer from Penn State Wednesday.

Byers was originally a two-star commit in the class of 2019 with zero Power Five offers, but four seasons at UTEP — which includes first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2022 and 30 starts — is changing that very quickly.
Aside from Penn State, Byers has picked up offers from Missouri, Memphis, Miami, Maryland, Florida State, UTSA and Texas Tech and is making an official visit to Florida State over the weekend.
According to PFF, Byers played a team-high 855 offensive snaps this season, out of a possible 874, and he graded out as UTEP’s top offensive lineman — and Conference USA’s top offensive lineman.
Byers will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
