National Signing Day dominated the headlines on Wednesday, but Penn State made an interesting offer to a high school junior.
James Franklin and his staff extended an offer to 2024 quarterback Will Hammond, but the interesting part is that he just made a verbal commitment to Texas Tech.
Hammond (6’2″, 195-pounds) is a 3-star recruit from Hutto, Texas and gave a commitment to Texas Tech on December 12. Penn State wasn’t the only team to reach out to Hammond on yesterday as he also picked up offers from Oregon and Auburn. At this point, those are his only Power Five offers.
Hammond is a dual threat quarterback as last season he threw for 2,763 yards, rushed for 728 yards and combined for 39 touchdowns in just 10 games. He was named the Texas 6A district 12 co-offensive MVP.
The native of Texas is committed to Texas Tech but 2024 National Signing Day is a year away so it should be an interesting year for Will Hammond.
