Penn State’s pipeline of defensive linemen from Maryland with D’Von Ellies, PJ Mustipher, Dani Dennis-Sutton, and Chop Robinson could be getting bigger soon. 247Sports National Recruiting Analysts Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn have put Crystal Ball picks for Class of 2023 edge rusher Mason Robinson to flip his commitment from Northwestern to Penn State.
Robinson (6-foot-4, 235 pounds) is a three-star recruit that played his prep ball at McDonough High School in Owings Mills, Maryland. He is the number eight recruit in Maryland, the No. 56 defensive lineman, and the No. 483 overall recruit nationally, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Robinson has been committed to Northwestern since May 28. However, after Northwestern struggled to a 1-11 record this past season, including losing its last 11 games, head coach Pat Fitzgerald parted ways with defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil and defensive line coach Marty Long.
Robinson may flip soon as he is scheduled to visit Penn State this coming weekend has visited campus earlier in his recruiting process. Robinson recorded 83 tackles and nine sacks this past season for McDonough, which put Penn State back on his radar.
If Penn State were to successfully flip Robinson, he would join Jameial Lyons of Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) as pass rusher in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
