Penn State women’s soccerย punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournamentย Sunday with a 3-2 win over Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game.
Monday, it found out who it’d be playing against in the Big Dance. Second-seeded Penn State will take on Quinnipiac in the first round in Happy Valley.

Quinnipiac finished the season 15-2-1 overall and 9-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Penn State finished the regular season 10-4-3, getting the No. 6 seed in the Big Ten.ย
Its championship journey began Oct. 30, when it beat No. 3 Wisconsin, 1-0, in Madison. From there, Penn State beat second-seeded Northwestern, 2-0, this past Thursday in Columbus to reach the championship.
In the title game, Penn State took on the conference’s regular-season champion, Michigan State. Ally Schlegel scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 82nd minute, to help Penn State to its ninth conference tournament championship, setting the Big Ten record. This is Penn State’s 28th straight NCAA tournament appearance.ย
This will be the first time Penn State in Quinnipiac have ever met.ย
