Penn State men’s basketball is 4-0 after a 73-68 win over Furman in Game 1 of the Charleston Classic.
Furman started hot, scoring the game’s first five points, but Penn State outscored it 46-24 the rest of the half and took a 46-29 lead into halftime.
Jalen Pickett led Penn State with 13 first-half points, and Seth Lundy wasn’t far behind with 10. Pickett and Lundy each finished with 20.
But Furman didn’t go away. It started the second half on a 28-17 run and trailed by just six at the six minute mark. Penn State regrouped and held on to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Penn State continues its Charleston Classic experience Friday at noon against the winner of the Old Dominion-Virginia Tech game. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 or ESPNU. If Penn State wins, it will play in the tournament’s championship game at 3:30.
