On Tuesday, Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, announced they are coming to Penn State on Oct. 29 for their game against No. 3 Ohio State. For their weekly Barstool Sports College Football Show.
The show airs every Saturday at 10 a.m., hosted by Portnoy, Big Cat, Brandon Walker (no relation to me), Kelce Smith, and Big Ev, who happens to be an Ohio State alum.
Barstool Sports has been airing the show since 2018, and the premise of the Barstool College Football Show is similar to ESPN’s College Gameday or the Big Noon Saturday Pregame Show. The difference is that the focus is more on betting lines, prop picks, Trivia with Brandon Walker, and top ten lists on subjects such as best gameday songs, marching bands, and best stadium environments.
This show is unique because it is about having hosts that are fans of college football having fun and interacting with the fans at the location, more so than having traditional analysts who played and coached college football analyzing the game.
Barstool Sports is a site that contains a mixture of blogs, podcast, and videos that focuses on sports, comedy, and pop culture. Portnoy described the site as “a sort of an online reality show: Every office argument and personal-life development was written up and fed to a growing legion of ‘Stoolies’.”
