Penn State joins Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Ohio State for Okunola’s services.
The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Okunlola is the second-rated recruit in Massachusetts, the third-rated offensive tackle in the country, and the No 25 ranked recruit in the country according to 247 Sports with a 95 rating.
Brian Dohn, National Recruiting Analyst of 247 Sports raved about Okunlola in his scouting report saying he has legitimate size and length to be a left tackle at the college level. He is also impressed by his ability to play with leverage, play fast and play with the physicality needed at the college level.
Okunlola is also a multi-sport athlete. He won the New England Independent Sports League wrestling title this past winter. He posted a 105-5 discuss throw and a 40-7 shotput in track and field as a freshman.
Okunlola shared his thoughts to Dohn about why Penn State made his top nine list.
“I’ve been talking to (offensive line) coach (Phil) Trautwein for a while, and I have a good relationship with him. He tries to preach the same technique I teach. Also, I took a visit there a while back and I liked it.”
If Okunlola chooses Penn State, the Nittany Lions will have their fifth offensive lineman in the Class of 2023. Penn State has commitments from Alex Birchmeier, J’ven Williams, Joshua Miller, and Anthony Donkoh
