The Exhibit 10 deal means that Brockington will have a spot on the Pelicans’ Summer League roster and an invite to the team’s training camp. He could earn a bonus that varies anywhere from $5,000-$50,000 provided that he gets assigned to the Pelicans’ G-League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.
The 6-foot-4 guard out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania spent his freshman year at St. Bonaventure’s, where he averaged 4.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. He then transferred to Penn State to play under Pat Chambers.
After sitting out the 2018-19 season due to transfer rules, he played in 31 games and averaged 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds of 44 percent from the field in 2019-20. In the 2020-21 season, he started 24 out of the 25 games he played and averaged 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
After a coaching change in the Penn State program, Brockington entered the transfer portal, and he ended at Iowa State under T.J Otzelberger. In his lone season at Iowa State, he averaged 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 36 percent from three.
Brockington won the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and led the 11th-seeded Cyclones to the Sweet 16 of the 2022 NCAA tournament.
