2023 QB AJ Locke Commits to Walk on at Penn State

AJ Locke, a Class of 2023 quarterback from Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, New York, has committed to Penn State as a preferred walk-on.

Locke was in attendance for Penn State’s annual Blue-White Game April 23.

”First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity to be in this position today,” Locke tweeted in a statement Thursday afternoon. “I also want to thank my Mom, Dad, brothers, Jayden and Neshaun and the rest of my family for pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be and being by my side through it all.”

Locke went on to thank his coaching staff, both from past teams and his current coaches at Holy Trinity. He also thanked his teammates for believing in him and “showing love since Day 1.”

“With that being said, I will be unfolding the next chapter at Penn State University,” Locke wrote. “Go Nittany Lions. Thank you coach Danny (Director of High School Relations Dan Kabala) and everyone at Penn State. Truly family.”

Locke plays the same position as one of the most notable walk-ons in Penn State history. Matt McGloin, who came to Penn State without a scholarship, ending up being the team’s starting QB by the time he left school.
