Rodney Gallagher, a four-star ATH from the Class of 2023, is taking his official visit to Penn State June 17-19.
Gallagher, a junior at Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, is fresh off an unofficial visit to Penn State this weekend and is a week removed from naming Penn State in his top eight.

At 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, Gallagher is regarded as the top 2023 player in Western Pennsylvania and arguably the top player in the state. 247Sports’ composite rankings have him behind only Penn State OL commit J’ven Williams (from Wyomissing High School near Reading) in the state rankings.
247 also has Gallagher as the No. 9 ATH in the country. Gallagher is also a standout in basketball, where he led Laurel Highlands to a district championship game this past March.
Gallagher’s top eight consists of Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Texas, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. He’ll be visiting West Virginia June 3-5, Notre Dame June 10-12 and Oklahoma State June 13-15, leading into his Penn State official visit.
Official visit schedule:
West Virginia June 3-5
Notre Dame June 10-12
Oklahoma State June 13-15

It’s not yet clear where Gallagher will end up or which way he’s leaning, but having Pennsylvania’s top two Class of 2023 players committed would be a feather in Penn State coach James Franklin’s cap.
Franklin preaches keeping the best players in Pennsylvania in their home state, and landing Gallagher would be more evidence that Franklin is effective in his objective.
