Former Penn State LW Brandon Biro Making NHL Debut Tonight for Buffalo Sabres

Former Penn State captain Brandon Biro has been recalled by the Buffalo Sabres and he will make his debut Wednesday on the road against the Montreal Canadiens. He will be the third Nittany Lion to play in an NHL game after Casey Bailey who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators from 2014-17 and his current teammate Brett Murray who has been with the Sabres since 2020.

Biro is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-winger out of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, who has been on a roll for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. He has scored nine goals and 22 assists in the last 28 games. On, Tuesday winger Victor Olafsson came down with a non-COVID illness which made room for Biro to join the active roster.

Biro was a team captain for the Nittany Lions for his last two seasons in Happy Valley.

He had his best season coming in the 2018-19 season in which he scored 16 goals with 24 assists and was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and an Academic Big Ten Honoree for the second time in his career.
