The Penn State football team, what’s left of it, anyway, will end the 2021 season in the 2022 Outback Bowl against Arkansas this afternoon.
The Nittany Lions are looking to finish strong after losing five of their last seven regular-season games. That will be hard to do, however. Arkansas is ranked 21st and finished with an 8-4 record.
More importantly, Penn State has had six players opt-out of the Outback Bowl, while Arkansas only had two. Although those two players; receiver Treylon Burks and top pass rusher Tre Williams– Penn State will be missing nearly half its starting defense, of which the run-happy Hogs can take advantage.
The Nittany Lions are currently 3-point underdogs, according to Ceasers Sportsbook.
This will be the first time these two teams have ever met. After New Year’s Day, only Mississippi and Mississippi State will be left for Penn State to cross off the SEC bucket list.
