PSU OL Des Holmes Enters Transfer Portal

Photo by Penn State Athletics: Offensive line

The Nittany Lions will be down a backup offensive lineman for 2022 as redshirt senior Des Holmes has entered the transfer portal according to 247Sports’ Sean Fitz.

As a three-star recruit from Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, PA, Holmes chose the Nittany Lions and joined their class of 2017. Injuries in 2020 and 2021 caused him to miss most of spring practice this season and derailed his change of breaking into the starting lineup.

Holmes played 34 games for the Nittany Lions over his career, including multiple starts during his sophomore year, but played nearly exclusively on special teams this season.

He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
